The roof is a gable roof which means you can see overhanging on both sides, a main roof on the front and back but not on the side. Its color is green. And in China green it stands for wood, and East.

On the main ridge we can see different pattern first one AU the sacred fish you can see it in both sides of the main ridge.The main ridge represent shiwan pottery, of the cantonese opera.
But you can also see different human figures, scholar’s on the middle but also a typical street view of old China. Among them are merchant and peasant there is also fisherman because the temple have been built for them.
There is different side of building

On the side you can see one man and one female standing. There are sacred spirit who welcome you into the temple and also Gabu figure located at the end with flower motif.

All around the temple there is Tile cape or Wadang and Drain Tile or Dishuiwith flower motif. The Wadang are really important in Chinese architecture, it’s a treasured symbol. The wadangs are decorated with zhuan (seal script). The Drain tile provide the rain to flow everywhere but the Chinese one let the water be free.

Below the roof we can see an Eave Panel. There you can see a typical elements of Chinese flora and fauna such as waterfall, mountains, rocks, and also bamboo forest and flowers.
But you can also find fauna, such as bird, wild animal, and a group of human.
Moreover there is calligraphy.
On the back of the temple we can see a window.

When we look at the temple from above, we can see another adjacent building. Its roof is a gable and hip roof. Normally it’s for high class building.
Overall we observe integrity in the middle part of the roof however there are two little roof connected to the main roof
To conclude, the roof of Hung Shing Temple in Ap Lei Chau it’s a typical Chinese temple roof with specific elements such as the main ridge, the Wadang and the roof style.
